Sandra Gamarra
Bio
Born in Lima, 1972, she is a Peruvian painter living in Spain who uses non-artistic objects in her works. It reflects on reality from the relationships and mechanisms of the world of art and appropriation. Between 1990 and 1997 he studied at the Faculty of Art of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, obtaining a doctorate at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Cuenca, of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) in 2003. He currently lives and works in Madrid.
Statement
My work is divided into two aspects: One is my own imagination and the other is the use of the imagination of other artists. But I have also realized that my imagination was already within the others. When I use it, it is all a continuous reproduction of my own imagination, so, in the end, I am also my own artist.
