He lives in Buenos Aires and the city is the central theme in his work. His main published books are Estampas Porteñas (1996), Siesta Argentina (2003), Cada vez te quiero más (2004), Buenos Aires: Coppola + Zuviría (2006), Paraná ra'angá (2013), Estampas (2015) and Frontalismo (2019).
He was twice awarded the Konex Prize, and also the Leonardo Prize of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. His most recent exhibitions include Fondation Cartier (Paris, 2013 and 2018), America's Society (New York, 2017), Lasar Segall Museum (São Paulo, 2016), Whitechapel Gallery (London, 2015), Museo Amparo (Puebla, Mexico, 2014) and ICP (New York, 2014) and Centro Cultural Kirchner (Buenos Aires, 2019), Fundación Mapfre (Madrid, 2023), Fundación Larivière (Buenos Aires, 2023).
His photographs are part of the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), MoMA (New York), Bibliothèque Nationale (Paris), Fondation Cartier (Paris), Fondation A Stichting (Brussels), Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, MALBA-Fundación Costantini, among many others.
