Statement

Juan Ignacio Cabruja currently focuses his work on the pictorial exploration of light, its absence, and how it interacts with space and other materials.
He understands the atmospheric as a constantly explored aesthetic category. He is interested in how the audience emotionally relates to the climates and atmospheres generated.
He works with elements and tools related to the night in a sensitive manner, aiming to create temporalities and suspended spaces. He also often works on revisions of paintings from art history, generating citations by using the color maps of these works in an abstract way.
