Henrik Malmström
Bio
Finnish artist Henrik Malmström (b.1983 in Bangkok) currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. In addition to making books, videos and objects, his activities also include the ideation and curation of various artistic projects. Often working in extensive series, Malmström self-published his first book of photographs, On Borrowed Time, in 2010. In the same year, he moved to Hamburg, where he developed and completed his St. Georg book trilogy; Life is One Live it Well, A Minor Wrongdoing and
OK Cloth Shop, published by Kominek.
He is the co-founder and curator of the Müllkellergalerie, a premium art gallery located
in a garbage room in Hamburg. He is also the founder of Vaciarte, a platform that tries to
generate, question and promote visual culture in the City of Buenos Aires.
In 2019 he traveled to Southeast Asia for the first time since his childhood, where he filmed and produced his Sujeto a Cambio video trilogy; Pending / Pendiente, Worldview, and Esfera de Telgopor. So far he is the author of 10 video works and some 20 publications; ranging from traditional trade books and special editions, to elaborate portfolios and experimental zines. Malmström is represented by Kominek in Berlin and Carmen Araujo Arte in Caracas.
